Why you need Git
As a Python developer working with AI, you’ll use Git to:- Save your progress — Never lose code again, no matter what goes wrong
- Try experiments — Test new ideas in isolation without breaking working code
- Share projects — Show your work to employers or collaborators
- Use AI tools — Most open-source AI projects are distributed through GitHub
We’re keeping this practical and focused. You only need about 5–6 Git commands to be productive on a daily basis. We’ll skip the complex branching strategies and advanced workflows you won’t need yet.
